Spill Response Training: Options Available

You probably have an idea of what to do when a spillage happens onsite, but what happens if you panic or otherwise don’t do things correctly? Most damage from spills (both property-wise and environmental) happen because people don’t know the steps to take or panic when they should be getting the right tools to clean up the mess. Spill response training is essential and should be provided by a reputable source. You need options, as some people may know the basics and others may need full training sessions.

Spill response training is usually required by government agencies that look to ensure you are keeping the environment and employees safe. To meet your obligations, you need one of many training courses, but it can be tough to choose the right one. First, you need to learn the theories, but you also need to practice cleaning up spills, containing them, and even preventing them. You need teachers with years of experience in the industry so that they can relate to you and your team. Along with such, you need to purchase the right spill kits to have onsite and read the instructions and know what to do in case an accident happens.

EcoSpill has a variety of spill response training courses available, including the fundamentals, in-depth learning, and a short course on how to manage spill control. You can also take the introduction to Ammonia Anhydrous and dangerous goods. Each course is a little different; for example, the fundamentals helps you learn about minimising the impacts a spill can have, while the in-depth course gives a deeper understanding of spill management and prevention. Both courses are suitable for people who store, transport, or use oils, chemicals, or fuels. There is a minimum requirement for people to take the course, and each course is between two and four hours.
